If you are just starting to learn piano or keyboard or you have a child that is new to piano, the YPT-210 is a great option for new pianists. The YPT-210 has been on the markets for about 3 years now and is one of Yamaha’s top sellers because of its affordability and its quality. The YPT 210 has 61 keys with 32 notes of polyphony.
Voices
The YPT-210 features 375 voices including trumpets, violins, vocals, guitars, accordions, wind instruments, and more. The voices also include the Stereo Grand Piano, XGLite Voices, 12 Drum Kits, and a Sound Effect Kit. The Sound Effect Kit is very cool. You can choose from a wide variety of sound effects like “Movie Sound Effects”.
The YPT-210 Piano Keyboard features the Portable Grand Feature that allows the user to reset the entire piano to a stereo-sampled piano, which makes switching from its many voices back to Stereo Grand Piano very easy.
Piano Instructor
The YPT-210 keyboard also features the Yamaha Education System, which is another reason that it is great for beginners and new pianists. The Yamaha Education System (Y.E.S.) comes with 102 songs that can be played automatically by the keyboard. The LCD display on the keyboard shows exactly which notes are being played so the user can follow along and learn the song. The song can be sped up or slowed down to suit the user’s preference and learning style. The songs can also be split into left and right hand parts, so the user can learn each hand separately.
The YPT-210’s Y.E.S. system of learning comes complete with a chord dictionary that shows you on its LCD display which notes to play for each chord and the specific chord name.
Technical Specifications
The YPT-210 has two stereo speakers that have two separate amplifiers. This outdoes other keyboards in its price range that have two speakers, but don’t have the stereo sound and separate amplifiers that the Yamaha YPT-210 keyboard has.
The YPT-210 supports connectivity to your computer through it MIDI out jack, which allows you to start creating music and recording straight to your computer. This feature makes it easy to start recording your own music.
It also supports connectivity to piano keyboard sustain pedals and headphones for private practicing.
The YPT-210 supports 32 key polyphony, which means that 32 keys can be played and heard at the same time (even though you only have 10 fingers!) and 16-part timbrel which means it can play back 16 different parts or sounds at once.
Overall
This piano is going to be great for the new pianist because of its sound quality, its education systems, and its numerous voices. It also has connectivity that you would find on much more expensive Yamaha keyboard models.

The piano was my first instrument and has been the instrument I have been playing the longest. Unfortunately with living space and cost an issue being able to fit a piano in my house is no longer an option. Luckily for me, there are tons of excellent keyboards to use.
This was also my first keyboard, although I have owned my acoustic piano for much longer. Thanks for the reply.
